How we go about birding!
We
are a fairly experienced, patient bird guide easy to get along with, and speaks
English as a second language.
I prefer any type of bird - forest, grassland and water birds - in lowland,
foothill and highlands terrain. And
also enjoy wild life in general. I am the type who will stay with a flock or
follow an army ant swarm until I
see every bird and will never get enough going after the same species until
everyone within the group is
satisfied.
We are not big "checklisters", but for the record i do keep a day list of
observed and heard birds and
will share it with participants. And if I see a “liffer” you will noticed –
there are many out there for me too.
I'm in a continuous learning process, sometimes I refer to a field book for
double checking field marks, silhouette or
for the correct name or call. I don't need to see every bird that I hear and
don't like the overuse of playback.
I would rather simply hear a bird and not see it rather than spend a half an
hour calling it in with a tape recorder
unless it is an specific “target bird” and with participants consensus. We are
physically fit, and can walk long
hours if necessary.
On tour, the itinerary go from 6:00 am till noon follow by a lunch break and
more birding during the afternoon.
And if possible, a couple hours of owling will end a good day! Participants will
dictate the rhythm.
I look forward to hear from you and help plan a comfortable birding trip to
Panama with all your questions answered before
any commitment. Let me know your expectations, limitations, accommodation and
meal preference. We are here to help
and start immediately from your inquire

Six good reasons to choose Panama as your next destination!
1. No waste of time. Starting from your Panama City hotel,
a transfer to the next “birding hotspot” will be in a less than 25 minutes
drive;
2. The Republic of Panama have 972 species in the official bird-list, including
a total of 107 regional endemics, some 149 regular migrants
and another 70 casual or vagrant species.
3. During a tour - depends on itinerary - you will visit lowland, foothills and
highlands in search of endemic, local and target birds.
4. Wherever you go you will be in a company of a local English speaking birding
guide.
5. You can choose from an all inclusive ready made birding itinerary or we can
help you plan an itinerary that fits your needs and specifications.
And if during your stay in Panama you account for few birding hours, we offer
low rates for half-day guiding.
6. Birding is good in Panama any time of the year. Even during the rainy season
rain are usually brief and limited most of the time to the afternoon.
I look forward to help you plan this trip facilitating all the information
needed and work together a fit birding package.Book

Great hotspots for birding while in Panama!
The total number of bird species found in Panama is
surprisingly large: 972 (and counting), especially when you consider the
relatively small surface of the country. Some 150 of these are neo-tropical
migrants that only occur in the country from September
till April. It is not rare to see more than twenty different migrant warblers
and vireos on a good morning on spring or fall migration,
and that added to fifty or sixty resident species.
This variety is partly explained by the fact that Panama is a land bridge
between North and South America. Therefore, our resident
avifauna is composed of a mix of birds from both North and South. In Panama it
is possible to find species typical of Central America
like Passerini’s Tanager, Green Shrike-Vireo, and Resplendent Quetzals, as well
as their South American Counterparts: Flame-rumped
Tanager, Yellow-browed Shrike-Vireo, and Golden-headed Quetzal. As it would be
expected, the South American birds are easier to
find on the eastern portion of the country, while the Central American species
are found west of the Canal Area. The birds of the central
part of the country, the area surrounding Panama City, include species from both
ends..
